Our March 2012 issue marks the first to include this symbol, called a QR code, a special barcode that links to a specific web page.

While a lot of newer smartphones are set up to automatically scan QR codes (for example, you can use Blackberry Appworld as a scanning device on newer handsets), older phones require that you download an app for scanning.
