Sam Zien Wasabi Mashed Potatoes

Sam Zien, host of Discovery Health’s Just Cook This! with Sam the Cooking Guy, has a surprising twist to get your old mashed potato recipe out of its rut.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 1/3 cup low-fat sour cream
  • Up to 1/2 cup low-fat milk
  • 1/2 to 1 tbsp wasabi paste
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Place potatoes in a small pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil; cook until the potato is tender and drain.

  2. Add sour cream, milk (adding enough to make it as thick as you like) and wasabi paste to potatoes; mash well.

  3. Season with salt and pepper, to taste, and keep warm until serving.
