BRIE & PINEAPPLE: FLATBREAD PIZZA

Readers Test, Taste and Tell: Pamela Tissychy-Napier.“By using my food processor, the Cilantro Pesto was very simple to make. The pita pizza made for a quick lunch that was very flavorful without the fat. My husband is not really into pesto, and even he liked it! I think knowing that it was not the usual full-of-fat pesto opened his mind enough to give it a try. You could also add chopped shrimp instead of crab for a different flare.”

- Pamela Tissychy-Napier, Louisville, Kentucky

WINDY CITY PIE: DEEP DISH PIZZA

Readers Test, Taste and Tell: Diana Cavey.“The ingredients were very easy to find and I had most in my pantry already! This deep-dish pie baked in 18 minutes – any longer in my oven and the cheese would have been browned too much for my preference. My son and I prepared the whole pizza in about 20 minutes, using store-bought natural whole-wheat dough. My teenage daughter and I loved the flavor of the sausage on thick crust balanced out by the subtleness of the onions and peppers. Just a little tip: A light coating of fresh grated Parmesan cheese on top adds just the right touch of ‘that little something.’”

THAI ONE ON: CAST–IRON PIZZA

Readers Test, Taste and Tell: Theresa Winterhalter.“Since all of the ingredients fit easily into my mini chopper, I used it to blend the Pad Thai sauce. It chopped and blended easily and cleanup was great (better than my food processor). And, since I always grill up chicken for the week (thanks to my countertop grill), putting this pizza together was a snap!”

- Theresa Winterhalter, McDonough, Georgia

CE’S WHOLE-WHEAT PIZZA DOUGH

Readers Test, Taste and Tell: Karen Stennes.“I was able to find the ingredients easily and thought the cooked crust was delicious. I actually used the leftover dough to make buns for breakfast. Yum! I have been baking bread for 20 years now and even grind my own wheat. But the vital wheat gluten was something new to me. I was surprised to see it sold in our local grocery store.”

- Karen Stennes, Fargo, North Dakota
CE’S WHOLE-WHEAT PIZZA DOUGH
SIMPLE TOMATO SAUCE

Readers Test, Taste and Tell: Billie Johnson.“I had no problems finding any of the ingredients – I already had most of them on hand actually. I did not have a food processor and was not familiar with puréeing by hand, so I used the back of a large spoon to mash the hunks of tomatoes.”

- Billie Johnson, DeSoto, Texas
