A study published in Complementary Therapies in Medicine gave 70 premenopausal women either two daily pills of curcumin or a placebo for the seven days leading up to and three days after the onset of menstruation. The study followed the women for three cycles. Compared to the placebo group, the curcumin group saw a significant reduction in physical, behavioral and emotional PMS symptoms. It is suggested that taking about 200 milligrams of curcumin daily could be an effective method for reducing PMS symptoms and should be considered in treatment regimens.
