Honey Lime Margaritas

Sit back and relax in the sun with a cold drink. This margarita is sweetened with simple syrup made from honey, not cane sugar. Cheers!

Serves: 1


Classic Margarita

  • 2 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • 1 ½ oz pure agave gold tequila
  • 3/4 oz Honey Simple Syrup (recipe below)

Honey Simple Syrup

  • 1/3-1/2 cup light-flavored raw honey, depending on desired sweetness
  • 1/4 cup water

To make the simple syrup, pour the water and honey in a small saucepan and whisk together. Lightly heat just until the honey is dissolved, then remove from the heat, allowing it to cool for several minutes.

Fruit Sweetened Margarita

  • 2 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • 1 oz fresh-squeezed orange juice
  • 1 ½ oz pure agave gold tequila

Cadillac Margarita

  • Float 1 oz Grand Marnier on top of the margarita


  1. Add all ingredients of either the classic margarita or fruit-sweetened margarita to a cocktail shaker. Add two handfuls of ice to the shaker and shake for 10 seconds.
  2.  Rub a lime slice around the rim of the glass, then dip the glass in the salt, if a salted rim is desired. Next, fill the glass with ice. Pour the contents of the shaker into the ice-filled glass. If you want to make the Cadillac margarita, float the Grand Marnier on top of the margarita.
  3.  Garnish with a slice of lime. Best sipped immediately.

TIP: For the smoothest taste, I recommend using only reposado or añjeo tequila, which is an aged, gold tequila. Whatever you decide, I do not recommend using silver tequila. Grand Marnier is a French type of orange liqueur and, in my opinion, offers the best taste; however you can also use Curaçao or Cointreau.
