Mix & Match: DIY Sauces for Every Grain Bowl

Put down the bottle: You don’t need to rely on store-bought sauces to add flavor to your meals! It’s so easy to whip up simple sauces that run the gamut from sweet to savory to spicy. In fact, all it takes it a little mixing and an arsenal of go-to sauce recipes. And these mix-and-match sauces provide exactly that.

Each one of these sauce recipes makes ½ cup in total – the perfect amount to drizzle over the grain bowl of your choosing. But you don’t have to make a grain-and-veggie bowl in order to use these delicious dressings. You can make extra and stash your fave in the fridge, using it to top off everything from salads to roasted or grilled vegetables.

Ingredients

Curry yogurt dressing

  • 1⁄2 cup whole-milk Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp raw honey juice of ½ lime
  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tsp yellow curry powder
  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1⁄4 tsp each sea salt and ground black pepper

Gochujang dressing

  • 2 tbsp gochujang
  • 3 tbsp warm water
  • 2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp raw honey
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 2 tsp sesame seeds

Lime pepita dressing

  • 1 cup fresh cilantro, roughly chopped
  • ⅓ cup raw pepitas
  • 1 tbsp tahini
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 1 small jalapeño, seeded
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 1⁄2 tsp salt

Apricot vinaigrette

  • 1⁄2 cup sugar-free apricot jam
  • 3 tbsp white wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp sriracha
  • 1 tsp thyme, chopped
  • 1⁄4 tsp salt and pepper

Preparation

Make the Curry Yogurt Dressing:

Whisk all ingredients together in a small bowl.

Make the Gochujang Dressing:

In a small bowl, whisk gochujang and water together until blended. Whisk in remaining ingredients.

Make the Lime Pepita Dressing:

Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender. Blend on high for 60 seconds, until smooth.

Make the Apricot Vinaigrette:

Whisk all ingredients together in a small bowl.
