Day 4: The Ultimate Plant-Based Taco Meat Recipe

Ready in just 15 minutes!

Welcome back, Green14 challengers!

Today we’re talking plant-based meat alternatives. Vegetarian alternatives to beef have exploded in popularity in recent years, but the sad truth is that the hugely popular options that are ubiquitous today are far from good for you.

The Impossible Burgers and Beyond Meats of the world are found at just about every fast food restaurant and grocery store but they are highly processed with a laundry list of manufactured ingredients. Even though they are fortified with some nutrients and minerals, they are far less nutritious for you than real-food plant-based proteins like seaweed, legumes, nuts and more.

But let’s be honest, no plant-based eater can subsist on nothing but legumes, day after day. I can totally comprehend your desire for juicy, flavorful plant-based burgers, tacos and meatballs. Luckily, I’ve got just the recipe for you! Watch my video on how to make the Ultimate Plant Based Taco Meat in just 15 minutes max – you’ll want to make it again and again. It can also be used in a variety of ways as the ultimate taco meat replacement! I can’t get enough of it.

When it comes to climate change, industrialized agriculture is one of the biggest polluters and culprits. From deforestation to methane from cows and other animals contained for production, meat has both ethical and environmental concerns. If the entire world decided to be completely plant-based (i.e. no animal products at all) we could collectively reduce 8 gigatons of C02 per year from the atmosphere, and even if we all just limited our meat and seafood consumption to meat/seafood once a month we could reduce emission 5+ gigatons of C02 per year. This means that our dietary choices can make a difference and be healthier in the long term for our bodies and the earth.

There’s a wide variety of cuisines around the world that have now adapted to use meat alternatives, and you can easily make the switch to balance out your consumption too! With some creativity, high-quality spices and a solid versatile recipe, it is our chance to introduce more plant-based options to our loved ones.
