Welcome to day 1 of the Green 14!

I’m so excited you’re here and taking steps to making better ecological choices, getting healthier and saving money in the process. Your journey starts here! 

As you’ve likely seen by now in your challenge ebook, there are some guidelines to follow for the next 14 days including no plastic consumption for the duration of the challenge. That’s right, no takeout coffee lids, no plastic bags at the grocery store, absolutely no plastic straws, no plastic water bottles and definitely no products, food items or cleaning products wrapped heavily in plastic. It’s the perfect time to break free from single-use plastics with farmer’s markets open all over the country, so grab your totes and make all your shopping for the next two weeks totally plastic-free! You’ve got this. 

The next rule of the challenge is no unnecessary shopping for the full two weeks. Take a break from online or in-person shopping, say no to trinkets, fast fashion and the lure of that tempting website that delivers within one day. The exception to this rule? Second hand shopping! That’s right, you are fully permitted to hit up thrift shops and purchase anything second hand but absolutely nothing new should be purchased during the duration of the Green14 – we challenge you! Consider keeping a journal of how many times you are tempted to buy in just a 14-day span. I bet you’ll be surprised. This is a great way to challenge our consumerism mentality and to reframe how we think about how much we consume or how much we can potentially live without if we’re just a little more cognizant.
