As a teacher, you have the ideal venue in which to teach the lessons of good health and proper nutrition – lessons that don’t take place nearly often enough. What you can do as a teacher is model what your clean lunch looks like, share with the students what you are eating and why. Prepare some of your lesson plans around clean, healthful, nutrient-dense food. Conduct a classroom activity around how to create a healthy menu. Where would you get this food? Why is it healthy? Take your students to a farmer’s market, local farm or grocery store and have a wonderful show and tell session about healthy eating and food.
