What makes it healthy: Ginger is a powerful healing spice. In fact, gingerol and shogaols, two of the components in ginger that give it its pungent bite, can help relieve nausea and pain (including migraines). Ginger is anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial and may have cancer-preventive properties. Cinnamon, another key spice in this mix, is antibacterial and can be helpful in lowering fasting blood sugar.

How to use it: Add 1 to 3 tsp to pancake or muffin batter; blend 1 to 2 tsp into smoothies, hot chocolate or tea lattes; sprinkle ½ to 1 tsp over oatmeal, or add 1 to 3 tsp to a batch of homemade applesauce or energy balls.
